Corporate Account Handling Team Leader - Leeds

Corporate Team Leader

Leeds | Hybrid Working | Excellent Salary & Benefits

We are working with a highly regarded and growing insurance broker in Leeds as they look to appoint an experienced Corporate Team Leader.

This is a senior position combining people leadership, operational responsibility and hands-on corporate client management.

You’ll take responsibility for leading and developing a team of Corporate Account Handlers, helping drive client service standards, performance and continuous improvement, while also managing your own portfolio of larger and more complex corporate clients – including insurance programmes with premiums in excess of £1m.

You’ll also form part of the wider regional management structure, giving you the opportunity to influence how the team operates, develops and delivers for its clients.

The Role

A key part of the position will be providing leadership across the Corporate Account Handling team in Leeds – setting clear objectives, monitoring performance and ensuring individuals have the training, development and support they need to succeed.

You’ll also work closely with colleagues across the wider business to improve processes, share best practice and ensure a consistently high standard of client service.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of six Corporate Account Handlers
  • Set clear objectives and monitor individual and team performance against agreed KPIs
  • Ensure appropriate training, development and support plans are in place across the team
  • Manage resource and workloads effectively across the team
  • Take responsibility for your own portfolio of larger corporate clients, including complex insurance programmes with premiums of £1m+
  • Act as a senior technical referral point on more complex commercial and corporate insurance matters
  • Work closely with Account Executives to support client retention, development and long-term relationships
  • Build strong relationships with clients, insurers and colleagues across the wider business
  • Review existing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and client outcomes
  • Help implement new initiatives, processes and ways of working
  • Contribute to wider operational and business improvement projects
  • Encourage collaboration and information sharing across teams
  • Contribute positively to the wider regional management team
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and exceptional client service

About You

You’ll have a strong technical background in commercial/corporate insurance broking, together with the ability to lead people and take a wider view of how a successful client service team should operate.

This could suit an existing Team Leader or Manager, but we would also be interested in speaking with experienced Senior Corporate Account Handler who already takes responsibility for mentoring, developing or providing technical support to colleagues and is ready for a broader leadership position.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Strong commercial/corporate insurance experience gained within an insurance brokerage
  • Experience working with larger and more complex corporate insurance programmes
  • A strong understanding of broking processes and FCA regulatory requirements
  • Leadership, team management, coaching or mentoring experience
  • The ability to set objectives, manage performance and develop others
  • Strong technical commercial insurance knowledge
  • Excellent client and insurer relationship-management skills
  • The ability to manage workloads and resources across a busy team
  • A process-driven approach with an interest in continuous improvement
  • Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to make decisions
  • The ability to bring people together and encourage collaboration
  • Experience using Acturis and Microsoft Office
  • ACII qualification or progress towards it would be advantageous, although not essential

What’s on Offer?

You’ll be joining an ambitious and progressive insurance business that has experienced significant growth and continues to invest in its people, technology and client proposition.

The package includes:

  • Excellent salary, dependent on experience
  • Hybrid working – only three days per week in the office
  • 30 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • 6% employer pension contribution
  • Private medical insurance
  • Life assurance
  • Income protection
  • Support towards professional qualifications and continued development
  • Excellent longer-term career progression

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the people and leadership side of insurance but still wants to remain close to clients and technical broking.

With exposure to major corporate clients and £1m+ premium programmes, alongside the opportunity to develop people and influence the wider operation, it offers considerably more scope than a traditional Account Handling Team Leader position.
